Hello and welcome to my family's journey. In this I will explain things about my family. I have always lived in the same place in the same house at the same school and I haven't changed ever. Ko wai au?

Who am I? What do I value? These were some of the questions we've been looking into for our inquiry this term. As part of that, we've created a visual mihi to showcase our identities, cultures, hobbies and families. Here is Room 5's visual mihi. The song is the 1st song in a medley by Tone 6.

Introducing... Room 5 for 2019!

They are smart. They are curious. They are eager to get serious. Serious about their learning that is. Introducing the beautifully & wonderfully made students of Room 5 for 2019!

These will be the student who's work will be populating our Room 5 blog throughout the year, sharing their learning and creativity for all the world to see.

We've got a class of 31 fun, quirky, some serious & excited learners. They each come with their different personality but so far has blended nicely into creating a comfortable and friendly classroom environment.

Our ongoing theme throughout the year is "Kia pai te kotahi" which means 'Better together'.

Be Friendly

Ever had someone ask "can I play?" or "can you help me please?". Well Room 5 figured it really wasn't a big deal if we were all just a little bit more friendlier. So our movie for this years Manaiakalani Film Festival is called 'Be Friendly'.   

Fruit Salad Art!

As part of our topic this term "Te Wā Toi" Art Time, Kings and Queens reading groups read a text called Fruit Salad Art by Jan Maguiness. They thoroughly enjoyed the art activity at the end and of course eating their left over fruit!

Garage Sale 2018

As part of our fundraising for Year 8 camp, Team 5 have their annual garage sale and this year we had it on Saturday 24th March. What a beautiful day it turned out to be with students turning up at 7.30am to help put their stalls together.

We had a long table filled with deliciously home made cakes, pineapple pies, cup cakes, muffins, cookies and some wonderfully made otai to quench the thirst. A candy floss stand was also a favourite for the kids. Parents got to enjoy some yummy seafood chowder made by Roz while our students were being great sales reps at the cheese toasties and hot dogs dogs.

It was great to see Josephine Bartley and Mrs Tele'a join us along with our Pt England babies.

A huge THANK YOU to our Pt England families and the wider community for coming down and supporting our students in their fundraising efforts.

We raised $1700!!! This is absolutely fantastic and will go towards our Year 8 Camp in Thames Valley.
